Memoir / Biographical Book Editor (Trauma-informed, psychological depth, rich literary voice) — NDA + No AI I’m developing a deeply personal biographical project that I consider part of my healing and integration process. The goal is to transform my current material into a living, immersive narrative written from the character’s perspective (me), so the reader experiences the inner world “from the inside out.” What’s already written (approx. 37,000 words): Timeline manuscript: 1981–present, broken into 6 parts (~20,000 words) Reflections / poems: 20 pieces in English + Spanish (~17,000 words) The timeline is linear and needs to be shaped into a compelling story with emotional texture, scene-building, and a strong narrative voice. The reflections/poems are “supplements” — digested, higher-perspective pieces that can be woven in strategically. What I’m looking for A highly experienced editor (developmental + line-level sensitivity) who can hold deep human experiences with maturity and nuance. Ideally someone with a psychological background or trauma-informed lens, capable of supporting a truthful, embodied voice without sensationalizing. Key responsibilities Read the full timeline + reflections and propose a narrative structure/arc Help convert “timeline telling” into scene, voice, and felt experience Strengthen character POV, interiority, and emotional continuity Identify where reflections/poems best support the story (placement suggestions) Preserve authenticity and dignity of sensitive material Provide editorial feedback + tracked edits (depending on phase) Language Manuscript includes English + Spanish reflections. You don’t need to translate everything, but you must be comfortable working around bilingual material and maintaining tone. Non-negotiables: NO AI Use of AI tools (ChatGPT or any AI writing/rewriting) is strictly prohibited for this project. All work must be fully human and original.
